We offer a full range of the most advanced braces to meet the individual needs and lifestyles of each of our patients. From traditional metal braces and clear braces to Invisalign® clear aligners, Drs. Burrow and Welchel are experienced in helping you achieve the smile of your dreams.
High-grade stainless steel metal braces are the most common type, and especially used for teenagers and children. Compared to braces in the past, today’s brackets are smaller and therefore less visible and more comfortable to wear. Clear ceramic braces are becoming more popular, especially with adult patients
. While more fragile than metal braces, the translucent material blends in with your teeth and is less noticeable, as long as they are taken care of properly to prevent staining.
Is a system of clear plastic trays that fit over the teeth like retainers. Custom made especially to fit your needs, the trays slowly move teeth into place, and are worn throughout the day and night. Often used for bite and minor teeth misalignment in adults, we can help determine if Invisalign is the best choice for you.
In some cases limited orthodontics
can be done to simply align the anterior (front) teeth or fix a patients chief complaint. This type of treatment can take as little as 6 months and is priced accordingly. Our doctors diagnose each case and form a specific treatment plan for each individual patient accordingly; if the doctors feel limited treatment can be achieved with success they will offer this treatment along with any others they deem appropriate. So don’t hesitate to ask if you just want a certain part of your smile corrected!
Once braces are off, wire and acrylic retainers
are worn to complete orthodontic treatment. All the hard work and expense put into braces can be lost if retainers are not worn properly to settle the teeth into their new positions. For the first 12-24 months, retainers need to be worn at all times, except for eating and brushing your teeth, playing sports, or swimming. Both upper and lower retainers should be brushed with toothpaste for cleaning
. Upper retainers are fragile and should not be around hot water, and should be kept in their case when not being worn. After at least 12 months, we can evaluate your progress and determine if you can move on to wearing your retainers at night only.
For the most extreme cases, corrective jaw surgery can be applicable for fixing underlying problems in the actual bone structure of the face and jaws. Severe misalignments can cause difficulty with chewing or talking, or cause pain during everyday activities or at night. Orthognathic surgery can help create a healthier jaw and facial profile, and correct any problems associated with misalignment.
With the help of computer imaging, we can determine whether orthognathic surgery is necessary, and if so, the most efficient procedures and top notch materials, such as titanium plates and miniature screws, to minimize recovery time. If standard orthodontic care is enough to treat any symptoms you may be having, then surgery is unnecessary. We can help
you determine what the best treatment options for your situation are.
